What’s so funny about politics?

Politics is not a funny game at all. It’s serious. Man, am here for some serious talks!!! Don’t laugh even if you read, “B-U-S-H”.  He was a man of words (why are you laughing, am serious). In the 2002 President’s Economic Forum meet, Bush announced, “I promise you I will listen to what has been said here, even though I wasn’t here.” Unless his daughter got caught red-handed or pranked by Maxim on their April Fool issue, Bush still thinks there is nothing negative to point at him.

Obama is much smarter than his earlier President. He is a great leader and a future thinker. He introduced his new Vice-President saying this, “”Let me introduce to you the next President — the new Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden.” With Nobel Award already dazzling his front meeting cabinet shelf, the charming man can deliver his flirt anywhere just like he did on a debate, “You’re likeable enough, Hillary.” By the way, he has a strong sense of human existence, trust me, otherwise why would he say this, “”On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.”

Hillary Clinton. The lovingly gorgeous should have been one of the models for Parachute Coconut Oil ad. She carries her hair as beautiful as Khaleda Zia does. Hey Prime Minster, am talking to Mrs Hasina Wajed, get a hair dresser for you – just cut a long foreign trip short if you need to bear the expense for appointing Farzana Shakil or Kaniz Almas. Coming back to the blonde (isn’t she?), Hillary certainly possesses some brain too. Hillary Clinton said she plans to build a new energy industry in Texas and in America. At least she recognizes the two have little to do with one another.

Khandaker Delwar is unparallel to any of the politicians worldwide, the YouTube Star of the Nation. Probably, the most dedicated and sincere speaker over the microphone, that he doesn’t even care whether he is wearing anything or not. See the other side, he is a brilliant organizer, he already had appointed someone to fix his pajamas as a contingency plan. Hey Obama, could you even think of that? I strongly believe, Politics is a serious game. You should not laugh at it. It’s a religion to some people. Obey it. You have a lot to learn from them. If you don’t know how to be on the first page of a newspaper, get married (age is not a barrier) and consult Mr. Ershad. By the way, if you have failed to make an impression on a girl, try to follow Obama, it will work. Seriously. Unless you want to be a Tiger Wood; even a night club hostess, Rachel, denied having sex with.

250 words…only? I already lost 3. No 5. Let’s not count.. Let’s not limit my writing with such magical number restrictions…I am an amateur and I’ve always written for myself only. My first thought was, Difference…Change..i always wanted to make one.. No matter how small.. Don’t remember since when.. I wanted to reach out.. I wanted to touch lives. And ironically I did that n I suffered. I am young,20 is young. Still I feel I have experiences worth sharing.. which can help someone who is lost. Why? Because I was lost once.. I searched for my identity. I saw problems..all around me, within my family-friends, neighbors,in the streets, Back-biting and hypocrisy all around. I imbibed all of them.. To the last drop. I became a part of the problem. I learnt it the hard way. No regrets because it worked.

And then I found myself. I am no longer a lost soul. I know why I am here; at least I believe I know. My belief and my faith in my creator, me, my loved ones and well-wishers is all that matters. Let everyone laugh. They are laughing at their own weaknesses, maybe they are jealous they are not me; maybe afraid.. But who really cares?? Who has the time?? I DON’T.. I’ve wasted enough time on them. Now I want to do something good..to give something back to the place I was born in.. which is my identity. I am not ashamed of my background, skin tone or accent.

I am ME.I am a Bangladeshi, a Dhakaite, a familygirl, a Viqi, an IBAITE…I am PROUD of everything I am and have.. Would have been.. No matter where I belonged… Because I know there is a reason behind d master-planner’s actions. I am a homo sapien. The best creation on earth. Why won’t I be proud??

I’m not a hypocrite. Maybe I was once..I smiled and laughed for others. No longer.I’ve finally started acting like me.. “Love me..Love me not  …” your choice; but why will you hate me???

This is what an amateur does.. I went off topic. Let’s end it with numbers and astrology. I believe in these stuffs.. There are signs everywhere… in every number..in every person..in every tree.. in every street, every place.. Do you get that? I think I do! If you don’t, then I’d better not write about numbers.. Of 11’s, 22’s and 23’s.. Of Taureans and Aquarians.

3…5…8 does not matter to you..WHAT SIGNIFANCE DOES 4 HAVE??? You never wonder why it is only I..II..III..IV..V? What’s next?? VI?? Or another I added to V? If you did, then maybe you will find this writing interesting.. Otherwise it was just another write-up.Why should you read it?? You hate change. Who doesn’t???

“Be the difference you want to see in this world” – our prophet first said that. The phrase was different. Mahatma Gandhi said it again. It’s his saying now. So what?? These quotations are for everyone, who understands their meanings, who are not selfish, who really wants to see a difference?

Numbers and astrology are ASKED not to be studied.

Why try to be GOD? Be human..be humane.. that is good enough for one life

AND THAT IS ALL WE HAVE GOT..ONE LIFE..ONE BELIEF..ONE LOVE…SEE, 1 IS D MOST MAGICAL NUMBER..IT IS D BEGINNING! IT LEADS TO INFINITY……

Hideout

by Tamoha Siddique

I welcome you to my mind.

I have tightly shut both doors leading to it, locking each door thrice. No one can find us here, so you may relax. Let me show you around…

As you can see, there is nothing much here—just a dimly lit space. No high voltage stadium lights as you might have found in Einstein’s mind—just a few flickers of light here and there. The walls used to be painted bright red, but turned grey gradually. The large bed you see over there—that’s where I spend most of my time. It’s very messy and strewn over with dreams. Sometimes the dreams take so much space I have to sleep on the floor

You hear that voice? It’s coming from that tape recorder over there.  It never stops. The voice keeps talking, sometimes there are more than one. They drive me crazy…

This, here, is the largest bookshelf in the world, but as you can see, there are no books in it. I plan to fill it up with hard bounds from all over the world. That rack over there in the corner is full of DVDs. Some of the best horror flicks ever. I am the lead actress in all of them…

Do you see that empty photoframe? It contains the picture of the person I love…

Look at this! This is my most favourite doll from my childhood. But someone stole her clothes and painted her face black…

Hey! Watch out! You almost stepped on this caterpillar on the floor. It’s been here for as long as I can remember. I’m hoping it would turn into a butterfly and fly away, but it’s taking too long

I don’t know if you can see it from here, but there is a tunnel at that dark corner. The tunnel seems to be very deep, but I am too scared to explore it, so I just leave it alone…

And here is the grandest mirror of all times, but it doesn’t work properly. When I stand before it, I only see the background behind me, but no me! It’s as if I am invisible, or as if I don’t exist…

Knock! Knock!

Oh! No! They found us! We have to get out of here right now! I hope you will come see me here some other time! Bye!

Dark temptation

by Samira Jamal

A girl went passed a shop. On the window display of the shop where a box of heart shape chocolate so tempting and irresistible. She knows it might cause her tooth to decay. So she has been avoiding that shop by taking another route. For her the whole dilemma of having it or not having it. As days passed by it seems no matter how she tries to ignore the thought of having it. At last she could not control her temptation. She went into the shop and found there were freshly melting chocolate. The smelling of smoothing chocolate. Molded into the shape of heart .she bought her share and went home. She ran toward her room locked herself in. Opened the box and had the chocolate.

It was so bitter; she finally started crying that she put so much effort on buying it. But the result was not at all satisfying.

The moral of the story is that ……….

Love is so tempting. No matter how we want to run away from love it runs after you. And finally when u realizes love it’s the most painful feeling one could bear alone.

I don’t know what happen to true love all I know its fade-in away. People love façade of love maybe that’s it.

Mean Girls !!!

by Shama Sania

You know what I hate? Girls! I know what you people are thinking. I, being a girl, am probably jealous of them. Buzz! Wrong answer! Nope, I am nowhere near being jealous of them. In fact, most boys don’t even know what I am talking about.

So, girls, visualize this. You probably know the feeling anyway. You walk into a class, you are new here. Feeling rather shy, excited even. You sit somewhere, and like every other human being, first thing you do is look around you.And guess what you notice first? No, it’s not the cute guy. It’s the bunch of girls staring at you like you’re a piece of shit.

Honestly, I am NOT making this up. And hell I’m not paranoid! No matter how you look, or dress, or behave. There are many girls out there who will hate you from the first sight. They don’t even know you. My question is why? Why do they do this? In few rare situations they get over it, or at least they pretend to.

Never mind, I really don’t get their weird psychology. What gives them right to unfairly judge people they just saw? What is this grudge they love to hold on to?

Hand of God II: Henry on front page again !!!

A fan says, “At least he was man enough to admit what he did and he even told the ref…the ref could have done something about it but he didn’t…Henry feels bad about it and he doesn’t feel like they should have won that way!! Back off haters!”

Break the Spell of Aging !!!

by Nishat Hasan

Age goes by... picture credit: http://natdatnl.deviantart.com/art/Time-31016730

George Carlin once said,I wanna live. I don’t wanna die. That’s the whole meaning of life: Not dying! I figured that shit out by myself in the third grade.” I sort of have to agree with George Carlin on this statement.

Have you ever realized the fact that the only time in our lives

when we like to get old is when we were kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions. “How old are you?” “I’m four and a half!” You’re never say thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key…

And then once you become a teenager, you think you can conquer the whole world. You feel nothing in the world can hold you back now. So what do you do? You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. “How old are you?” “I’m gonna be 16!” You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . . you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you feel like milk has turned sour! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime and it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; “I Was JUST 92.”

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. “I’m 100 and a half!”

Now I understand why they say you are like a child when get older. Hopefully, you didn’t loose your appetite on your pizza over the realization of getting into the vicious cycle of aging.

What do you picture when you say “Bangladesh”?

by Max Vergil

Different countries create different images in our head when we hear their name. For instance, ‘Iraq’ makes us visualize war, ‘China’ makes us think of communism and its Great Wall, etc. However, as Bangladesh is not yet a well known country, it does not trigger anything specific in the minds of foreigners who don’t know about it. Sadly, those who do know about it, think about poverty, flood, terrorism, crime and corruption when they hear the name ‘Bangladesh’. But Bangladesh is not all bad- it has so many good things that holds the country together that people do not value or recognize. These are the things that should come to our and other people’s mind around the world when they hear the word ‘Bangladesh’.

One of the main things that the world should recognize as ‘Bangladesh’ is the hope that every average Bangladeshi has in his/her heart of a better tomorrow. This hope is what drives us, keeps us going through this living nightmare of everyday life. We carry on with our life and struggle for a better one only because we have the hope that someday our lives will be better. It’s our driving force. That is why the world should recognize ‘Bangladesh’ as a symbol of hope.

Bangladesh Flag

However, the main thing that the world should recognize as ‘Bangladesh’ is

the tireless, never ending spirit that the people of this country harbor. This spirit won us our mother tongue, it won us our freedom, and it will win us our rights. This spirit is what that keeps us dreaming of a better future, this is the thing that keeps our culture alive in our hearts against all adversities; this is

the thing that makes us ‘Bangali’. Therefore, if the world should recognize ‘Bangladesh’ as anything, it should recognize it as the evergreen, always burning, never dimming spirit that we cherish.
