France bans Hijaab: Taslima Nasrin unveils !!!

Taslima Nasreen reveals her cleavage at her French residence and shares them on facebook to support the French parliament’s decision to ban hijaab!!! She got fierce on the words from Barack Obama, who thinks every religion has the right to practice their rituals and customs anywhere in the world.

Interestingly, on one of her interview with secularhumanism she said,”When I began to study the Koran, the holy book of Islam, I found many unreasonable ideas. The women in the Koran were treated as slaves. They were nothing but sexual objects.”

Taslima Nasreen- for her, living in the shadow of death is not a new experience. From as early as 1990, Islamic fundamentalists have been baying for her blood for her views on religion, traditions and the discrimination against women. Taslima, a practising medical doctor, was forced to quit her profession. In 1993, her novel Lajja (Shame) was banned by the Bangladesh government, and the following year she went into hiding to avoid going to jail, where, she felt, she would be murdered. After two months in hiding, Taslima left Bangladesh in 1994, with several fatwas against her, and has since been living in exile under police protection wherever she goes. Speaking to Frontline, Taslima said“I have never thought of apologising because I never felt I had done anything wrong,”.

At Nottingham in England, Islamic students attacked me. At Concordia in Canada I had to stop speaking because of Muslim demonstrations. Police were on hand when I spoke at Michigan and at Harvard. Hundreds of French gendarmes have been on duty when I spoke. When I first was hiding in Sweden, as many as a hundred policemen and policewomen were my guards.

Earlier, France has placed an emphasis on laïcité, or secularism, in modern society. As part of this desire to separate religion and government, religion is given no special status though it is respected and can be freely practised. This system was initially established to prevent religion from interfering in government affairs. Today, the same concept is being applied in support of the ban on religious symbols in France’s public schools.

“Secularism is one of the great successes of the Republic,” said President Jacques Chirac in an address to the nation. “It is a crucial element of social peace and national cohesion. We cannot let it weaken.”

However, Mr Barack Obama had other ideas. He stated, “The United States government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab and to punish those who would deny it . It is important for Western countries to avoid impeding Muslim citizens from practising religion as they see fit — for instance, by dictating what clothes a Muslim woman should wear.  We can’t disguise hostility towards any religion behind the pretence of liberalism.

I reject the view of some in the West that a woman who chooses to cover her hair is somehow less equal, but I do believe that a woman who is denied an education is denied equality.”

On the contrary, Silhem Habchi – the president of a women’s rights movement association in France said, “I’m very disappointed. Obama, the first president to represent diversity, is supposed to symbolise peace-making. And yet, he forgot one half of humanity. I’m furious. It’s like he tried to make a compromise with the Arab world with women paying the price. Trying to get closer to the Muslim world in turning a blind eye to women’s rights, to democratic values and to the right of emancipation, is to exploit women. He can’t truly want to fight against religious extremism and give in over the hijab issue at the same time. The hijab flies the flag for extremism.”
